The FCC Enforcement Bureau on November 7 issued a Notice of Unlicensed Operation (NoUO) to Technician licensee Daryl Thomas, KE6MWS, of Carmichael, California, for allegedly operating an unlicensed FM radio station.

Fox-1Cliff Launch Rescheduled for Wednesday, November 28

The postponed launch of AMSAT’s Fox-1Cliff CubeSat on a SpaceX Falcon 9 vehicle has been rescheduled for Wednesday, November 28, at 1832 UTC, SpaceX has announced. The SpaceX SSO-A SmallSat Express mission, launching from Vandenberg Air Force Base, will carry several Amateur Radio payloads. In addition to Fox-1Cliff, they include FUNcube on ESEO, JY1Sat, K2SAT, and ExseedSat.

ARRL Headquarters Closed on November 22 and 23

ARRL Headquarters will be closed on Thursday and Friday, November 22 and 23, for Thanksgiving. There will be no W1AW code practice and bulletin transmissions on those days, and The ARRL Letter and ARRL Audio News are taking a break this week. Headquarters will re-open on Monday, November 26, at 8 AM EST. We wish everyone a safe and enjoyable holiday.

Jack Tiley, AD7FO, Appointed as Eastern Washington Section Manager

Jack Tiley, AD7FO, of Spokane Valley, Washington, has been appointed as the new ARRL Eastern Washington Section Manager (SM) starting on January 1, 2019. Tiley will fulfill the unexpired term of office that Mark Tharp, KB7HDX, will vacate following his election as Northwestern Division Vice Director. AMSAT has announced that the SpaceX Spaceflight SSO-A SmallSat Express launch carrying the Fox-1Cliff Amateur Radio CubeSat and several other Amateur Radio payloads has been delayed.
