Google Tracks your Location Always #1305 - Geek News Central Audio

Geek News Central - Tue, 08/14/2018 - 01:38

Some very concerning information about Google location tracking has come out by the AP. You need to pay attention to this information if you are concerned about your location privacy. I also provide some links to how you can root out all the information that they have stored on you to get it cleaned up. Yes, they are tracking you with Location data turned off. Also, the GoDaddy Promo Codes are changing on September 1st. So if you want to take advantage of the deal now is the time.

Censorship’s Slippery Slope #1303 - Geek News Central Audio

Geek News Central - Tue, 08/07/2018 - 01:27

Over the past week, censorship has raised its head again and while I will not debate the decisions the companies made. I think it is a good time to re-enforce that freedom of speech in America is still protected. While I may hate what you say, and speak out about it. I also respect that you have the right to say it and understand that words have consequences. Companies have to protect their brands which is their right, the only thing we can ask of these companies is to apply banning and censorship equally across their platforms.

Google’s Censored Search Engine for China #1302 - Geek News Central Audio

Geek News Central - Fri, 08/03/2018 - 01:31

What do you think about the revelation that Google is building search engine for China that supports the communist governments censorship rules. I don’t know about you but it irritates me greatly. Along with that a pretty incredible analogy that Facebook has weaponized social media, along with Twitter and instagram. I go on a bit of a rant tonight so hold on to your hats. If this one does not drive some email nothing will.

This week we look at even MORE, new, Spectre-related attacks, highlights from last Tuesday's monthly patch event, advances in GPS spoofing technology, GitHub's welcome help with security dependencies, Chrome's new (or forthcoming) "Site Isolation" feature, when hackers DO look behind the routers they commandeer, the consequences of deliberate BGP routing misbehavior... and reading between the lines of last Friday's DOJ indictment of the US 2016 election hacking by 12 Russian operatives -- the US appears to really have been "all up in their business."
